Miami’s heatwave isn't exactly great for grooming. The weather becomes a little unbearable during this time of year and just the thought of the walk from my front door to my car puts a sweaty image in my head.
Most people associate Miami’s heat with sun bathing and don’t think about the horrible damage the sun can do. I am the least fan of suntanning if we’re talking about skincare. I seriously don’t think people realize how bad it can actually be and it’s scary. For the longest time, I’d lay out by the pool until I was as dark as I wanted to be, until eventually…my skin became blotchy and I had sun stains everywhere. They don’t go away and using tanning oil only makes it worse. You probably think you have no sunspots but I guarantee if you use a 3X mirror + some good lighting on your face you may be surprised.
That doesn’t mean I won’t lay out by the beach every now and then, but I can’t stress SPF products enough. If I want to look darker I stick to self-tanners most of the time because they work great for me (expect a review on Island of Paradise Self Tanning Spray real soon).
First Aid Beauty Triple Protection Skin Tint SPF 30 is amazing if you’re going to be outdoors or just want a really natural “everyday” look. You’ll definitely have to build this up if you want coverage because it is super lightweight. note: this product is completely matte so I like to mix it with a face oil.
NARS Pure Tinted Moisturizer has SPF 30, is dewy and gives off a beautiful glow. But keep in mind that the brand is no longer cruelty-free so I will not be repurchasing.
Too Faced Beach Bunny Bronzer is what I use every single day. I like my face to look really tan and this gives me exactly what I want. The lasting power on this (considering the heat) is insanely good and the product will stay on my skin all day long. I get so many questions about what I use and this gem is my current holy grail bronzer. It’s (sadly) discontinued but is still available on Amazon.
I carry the Nivea Milk & Honey Lip Balm everywhere with me because it’s so hydrating! The heat of the outdoors tends to dry out my lips and this works wonders for me.
Ofra Beverly Hills has five luminous shades in one compact and is the best highlighter I’ve ever used. I was seriously ride-or-die for Becca’s Champagne Pop for the longest time but decided to give this one a try a few months ago. I use the darkest shade in the compact and oh my gosh is this pigmented “AF”. If you’re going to have the sun beaming on your face this product will give you that ultimate, blinding glow.
The heat pushes aging faster if you aren’t properly hydrating your skin. Pixi Beauty Rose Ceramide Cream is perfect for an everyday moisturizer because its antioxidant-rich botanicals help improve your skin’s elasticity while protecting against environmental aggressors. The product is infused with rose oil and feels like heaven on your skin. It’s so refreshing, lightweight and works great for any skin type.
I think it’s safe to say that Pixi is officially my favorite skincare line. Every time I use their products I fall more and more in love with the brand because they’re products are just unbelievable. I use the Rose Tonic every other day because it removes unwanted oil from sweat and other environmental factors without drying out your skin (it’s alcohol-free). Toners will pick up that extra dirt/oil that a face wash will not.
Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil is so ideal for an everyday body moisturizer. All her products are infused with argan oil, giving the skin a natural boost. The body butter enriches skin with essential fatty acids and antioxidants to soften, smooth, and firm the skin. I recommend the unscented option because the “Sweet Citrus” scent I have right now is a little too much for me
Farmacy Beauty Freshen Up works really well if you’re looking for an all natural & non-toxic deodorant. I attended the brand’s deodorant launch party last week and was able to get my hands one a few of their products. I used the Freshen Up deodorant for an outdoor workout the next day and although I did have to re-apply a few times, I liked the tea tree oil scent. The brand is all vegan + cruelty free and is what i’ll be wearing these next couple of days.
And that’s a wrap!
