This post is long overdue!
I posted an Instagram story about a month ago where I mentioned how excited I was to try this self-tanner. I had seen this everywhere on IG and so many other bloggers were talking about how amazing this product was. Not to mention, my favorite bachelor star, Demi, couldn’t stop raving about it.
As always, you can expect nothing but the truth from my posts. I will always give my true and honest opinion no matter how hyped or cute the packaging is.
I like this self-tanner but wish there were a darker shade option. Isle of Paradise comes in Light, Medium and Dark and of course, I got the darkest shade. But I seriously think there should be an “Ultra Dark” option for people who are regularly tan.
This product will work so well on anyone with light or fair skin. So for my naturally tan ladies (or gentlemen), you’ll need to build this up a lot more than most people would.
Most self-tanners have this awful and lingering smell that doesn’t go away. I mean, even after showering multiple times the odor just doesn’t disappear. Isle of Paradise has a very light baby perfume scent that I don’t seem to mind and only lasts a few hours.
The water spray application is so easy to use and although it still requires a mitt, the process is only about 4 minutes. The spray method versus the mousse consistency is so much better because it blends out evenly and is streak-less.
Overall, I really appreciate the brand being completely cruelty-free and would definitely recommend this brand to everyone. I’ve used Loving Tan and St. Tropez and can honestly say I’d choose Isle of Paradise over any other product. Partly because it doesn’t stain, it is practically odorless and the application is quick + easy without being messy.
The instructions note to let the product develop in 4-6 hours, but I really didn’t notice a difference in my skin color until 7-8 hours later. My advice is to spray it on right before bed!
