Finding the right foundation can be tricky and maybe even a little cakey sometimes. I think a lot of foundations are really special and each have their own purpose. example: good for travel, for glowy skin, SPF, full-coverage, etc. etc.
I’ve used over 20 foundations. Excessive, I know. But I seriously love trying different formulas and it’s basically a hobby at this point. Plus, there’s no way I’m sticking to just one.
I’ve raved about the Stila All Day Foundation for the past 6 months but that doesn’t mean I’m not using other products. Makes sense?
The first crappy foundation I want to talk about is one that REALLY had me disappointed. Not so much by the brand, but by the “beauty guru” who posted a YouTube video about how great the product would be. (no, not James Charles).
Dior Diorskin Forever Perfect Makeup Everlasting Wear Pore-Refining Effect
two words: blotchy mess.
The product applies just fine but oxidizes over time. In a span of only a few hours, the formula transforms two shades darker and leaves a blotchy hot mess express. I figured I picked up the wrong shade and went back to get a lighter shade and found I still had the same problem.
and yes, I use primer. always do.
The only positive thing about the product is the luxurious scent. But I would 10/10 not recommend this NON cruelty-free product.
Thank u, next.
Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation
You may or may not remember that I used to love this product and even did an entire review on it because it worked great……for a few months. After some time, the formula just wasn’t the same and kept leaving my face with dark patches. Even my bf at the time noticed the discoloration. A guy noticed. that’s how bad it was. Fenty foundation has a huge oxidizing and blotchy-ness problem just like Dior. Sorry Riri! but seriously, don’t bother wasting your money on this product.
Tarte Shape Tape (Matte) Foundation
Writing something negative about Tarte breaks my heart because I seriously love the brand so much. Usually, Tarte has the best formula when it comes to foundation + concealer but the Shape Tape Foundation (Matte) is just so damn dry. I won’t go into too much detail because I’ve already written a lengthy review on this. But I will say that this product really brings out your wrinkles. I’m only 23 and this foundation brings out my minor under eye wrinkles and smile lines. I can’t imagine what someone over 40 would look like if they used this product. Dry & patchy is not the look i’m going for; however, the Shape Tape Concealer is a completely different story and is life changing. so there’s that.
What are some of the worst makeup products you’ve tried?
