This isn’t your typical “drink lots of water and you’ll have flawless skin” kind of post.
This is a 10 month long journey where I experimented a variety of products through research, brand collaborations and my very own purchases.
I seriously believe your skin needs all kinds of things and there is no product that has it all. Hence why I use multiple products within the week.
This isn’t me telling you that you need to break the bank to have good skin. But it doesn’t hurt to spend a little extra on something that will certainly benefit you longtime. I mean.. who wants to age faster anyway?
I can’t remember the last time I had a blemish, blackhead or dry patch as a result of using these clean beauty products.
So here it is!
Are you washing/cleansing your skin properly?
This is a little contradicting for me because I’ll do anything to avoid getting my face under a sink. I have eyelash extensions and washing my face is a total pain in the ass. But thankfully, I’ve found a way around it. I use Farmacy’s Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm to remove my makeup every night. The consistency is pretty similar to coconut oil and removes every single speck of makeup. After applying the product in circular motion, I use multiple makeup wipes to fully remove everything. I find this method way more effective than getting my face under a sink, honestly.
After makeup removal, I use Pixi Beauty’s Peel and Polish scrub twice a week. It smells amazing btw! here’s what it does:
The natural fruit enzymes loosen dead skins cells
The lactic acid gently exfoliates
The cellulose peels anything clogging your pores
And the sugar extracts polishes + lifts away dullness to reveal brighter skin
Going back to the the topic of clogged pores, I use the Glow Mud Mask twice a month. This product is so insane. I struggled with black heads on my nose for years & had “beauty experts” tell me I needed an “intense facial” to get rid of them. Wrong. I literally used this product twice and my blackheads completely disappeared. If you don’t believe me, research some other reviews and you’ll see how bomb this mask actually is.
The last step in my cleansing + clearing routine is the Pixi Glow Tonic. A lot of people skip the toner step which totally surprises me because it is what truly purifies your skin. The Glycolic Acid in the product gently accelerates cell renewal to reveal a brighter + glowing complexion while also exfoliating and hydrating at the same time. The Glow Tonic is completely alcohol-free and won’t dry you out (AKA safe to use multiple times a week). In short: toner remove excess dirt, traces of oil and makeup .
Since I started using it 10 months ago, The Herbivore Orchid Oil is the product that completely transformed my skin. I started getting so many compliments about how healthy and clean my bare skin looked and it is the result of this product. I mean…what more could you want?
Honestly, face oils are a bit of a trial and error process. I used Miranda Kerr’s Kora Organics Noni Oil (which was also super pricey, btw!) and it made me break out. It was horrible. And I had no idea what was going on with my skin until I realized that this product from hell was causing tiny bumps everywhere.
So anyway, the Orchid Oil was a bit of a risk taker for me because the last thing I wanted was another product with the same end result. I did enough research to find that the product is not one where people have negative side effects.
Every morning I use either the Orchid Oil or Farmacy’s Honey Grail Face Oil because they both appear really light weight. Neither leave a greasy finish and work great for morning hydration and pre-makeup application.
The Honey Grail is a little bit thicker than the Orchid Oil and leaves a dewy finish after foundation application. Not to mention it can also be used on hair! but let’s stick to skincare for now.
My nighttime hydration routine is consisted of three to four different products.
I use the Farmacy Better Daze Ahead CBD Moisturizer almost every night but won’t go into much into detail since I already have a full review on the product. But overall, the moisturizer’s anti-inflammatory CBD properties work great for under eye bags. If you want a really clean and natural moisturizer…this one’s it.
My night time face oil (because clearly, two wasn’t enough) is the Pixi Rose Oil Blend. It’s hard for me to put into words how much I actually love this product. It is perfect for dry or dehydrated skin because it locks in moisture and intensely hydrates while using Vitamin E.
Vitamin E’s youth-preserving properties tend to prevent and get rid of already existing wrinkles, so regardless of your age or skin type, you definitely need this.
The product does leave an oily finish so I tend to use it at night before bed only.
note: you can use the oil alone or after a moisturizer
and finally.. when i’m not using the Rose Oil Blend at night, I’m using the pHenomenal Gel. This product works great for anyone who isn’t ready to try a face oil just yet. It’s recommended for those with oily skin because of its gel and non-oily formula.
And that’s a wrap! did I mention enough products?
I think the #1 advice I’d give to anyone looking to improve their skincare regimen is to practice clean beauty.
Just like the foods we put into our bodies shows on the outside, the products we put on our skin can make their way into our bloodstream. It really comes down to our health sometimes so why wouldn’t you want to use products that are actually clean?
