My fellow Miamians, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but there’s a huge chance you have a sun spot or two. Since the day you were born, you’ve probably been in contact with the sun at least once. I’m not about to lecture you on SPF, but know that you’re a victim of sun damage.
Those tiny brown spots you have on your face are the results of sun damage. If you have no idea what “brown spots” i’m referring to, look at your bare face with a close up mirror or try googling “sun spots.”
Those stains may not be as noticeable because they can easily be covered with foundation but it doesn’t necessarily mean they aren’t there. The good news is that……there’s a cure.
Vitamin C! (insert clap emoji)
I can’t even begin to explain what Vitamin C has done for my skin.
For over two months, I’ve been using these products and my sun spots have gotten lighter over time. a little back story: Vitamin C is a skin brightener and decreases the appearance of sun stains.
The products I’m going to talk about today actually work. I wouldn’t waste my time writing this whole damn post if they didn’t. One product might be better than the other, but a combination of these products is what’s really worked for me.
The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% 30ml
If you haven’t already noticed, The Ordinary isn’t like most beauty brands. Their product descriptions aren’t easy to understand and it’s confusing AF because they use science terms. It forces you to do some research, which frankly, I don’t mind. I could research about skincare all day long.
But anyway, I’ve tried several of The Ordinary products and none of them feel good on my skin. I don’t get that feeling of rejuvenation that I do when I use Pixi Beauty products. You’re probably like ok? why are you even mentioning this product?
Because holy crap it actually works. The brand doesn’t focus on making your face feel nice/fresh and doesn’t focus much on packaging. It focuses on creating damn good products that are extremely affordable. Like almost hard to believe kind of affordable.
That’s just my quick take on the brand because I’ve never tried anything like it before. But back to the product. warning: it stings! Usually, if something stings or feels weird on my face I am SO QUICK to assume it’s toxic. But being the little researcher that I am, I discovered that your products should never sting unless they are proven-skincare ingredients like acids and retinoids. SURPRISE. Vitamin C is an acid. Like I said, the product stings and feels a little grainy. So I really only use it before bed time and apply the product on the sun stained areas and not on my entire face.
Farmacy Very Cherry Bright 15% Clean Vitamin C Serum with Acerola Cherry
Now this is a product that feels rejuvenating. I love a good serum! Especially one that’s multi-purpose. The acerola cherry works in a cocktail of four forms of vitamin C to visibly brighten, firm, and hydrate skin. This is a product I apply all over my face (in the morning & at night) because it isn’t grainy/tacky and doesn’t affect my makeup look.
I’m not a huge serum user because I typically prefer face oils. But I’m loving this one because it feels so hydrating and targets those sun stains i’m trying so hard to get rid of. Not to mention the cherry scent brings back so many childhood memories!
Okay so, I know I talk about sooo many skincare brands on my social media but Farmacy is a brand that is so special to me. There isn’t a product I’ve ever disliked and they focus on clean + cruelty-free beauty which is basically everything I stand for at this point. The Very Cherry is a really exciting addition because for every serum purchased, they donate $1 USD to Fundação Lar Feliz (Happy Home Foundation). The foundation provides comprehensive care for families and children in Bahia — a region in poverty lacking essential services like clean water and basic sanitation.
Honestly, if I could hug the CEO of Farmacy, I totally would. Having a beauty brand do something like this is so incredible and i’m so happy to be support a brand like this.
Pixi Beauty Vitamin-C Juice Cleanser
It’s obviously no surprise that I am die-hard Pixi fan. I use this cleanser with a cotton pad after I wash my face to remove any extra makeup or dirt my makeup-remover missed. The brand just released A TON of Vitamin C products and I’ve been using them non-stop. The caviar balm is my favorite moisturizer at the moment so I totally recommend that one if you’re looking to incorporate Vitamin C in your routine for the first time.
The bottom line is that Vitamin C is total must and you can say goodbye to all sun stains, dark marks and scars from early on.
