Hot girl summer ain’t over!!

PLT is one of my favorite online shops because they have so many freakin options. Not to mention their clothes is super affordable.

This summer I’ve been rocking a ton of their pieces and wanted to share my outfit selections with you guys. Mainly dresses because there’s nothing I hate more than pants when it’s scorching hot.

MIAMI SWIM WEEK 2019 RECAP

Miami Swim Week is basically a holiday for me.

I can’t even begin to explain how excited I was this year and it was all I could talk about for the month of July.

This year was really special for me because as I continue to grow as a blogger, my opportunity to attend these exclusive events only increases. It’s almost surreal to me, honestly. This isn’t to say that I’m some sort of IG hot shot, but it does inspire me to continue content creation.

If I had to pick between New York Fashion Week and Miami Swim Week, it’d be an easy & obvious choice for me. The energy in Miami Swim Week is so much more refreshing. NYFW is a lot of high fashion (both on the runway + the audience), while Swim Week is a little bit more laid back. Plus, it’s nice to see looks on the runway that i’d actually wear.

Swim Week is totally hectic and non-stop. You definitely need to make yourself a schedule of runway shows to attend because a lot of the showcases are at the same time.

I attended shows and events Thursday-Sunday and my top 3 favorites were:

+Wildfox Couture

+Monday Swimwear

+Fashion Palette (Australian)

Here’s a little recap!

Those are seriously not even a portion of the photos. I was able to get those online because I obviously wouldn’t have been able to take those high quality images myself.

As for my outfits, I wore vibrant colors, prints and comfortable small heels that I could walk in all day.

Most of these shows are invite-only but the Art Hearts Fashion showcase is available to the public with tickets. They provide top designer runway shows throughout the week. I love Art Hearts Fashion showcases because they are organized and you don’t have to worry about going place-to-place. This year, all their runway shows were held at the Faena Hotel (which is so fab btw!!)

I absolutely adored the Liliana Montoya designs! It’s a swimwear line I would actually consider purchasing myself. Here are my top 3 favorite looks

The Miami Swim Week experience is really what you make of it. It really isn’t all that glamorous at times because it’s freakin hot (miami probs), you have to get there early to secure a good spot and you can even encounter a few snobby people.

For the second year in a row I took my best friend and we had such an amazing week. Adri is a f*cking rockstar. She loves these events just as much as I do and she’s the only person who doesn’t complain about how picky I am with my photos.

All I can say is…New York Fashion Week we’re coming for ya real soon!

MY HAT OBSESSION (UNDER $50)

If you haven’t already noticed through my Instagram page, I absolutely adore hats. Mostly because I’m a total skincare freak and do what I can to avoid UV rays. Sun stains are real, okay.

I’d never take a trip to the beach without one of my large hats. They protect my face and make a super trendy accessory.

How many times has a hat saved me from a bad sunburn, bad hair day or boring outfit? way too many times.

Surprisingly, a lot of stores sell them at a ridiculous price. Maybe I’m just a little realistic but if it’s over $50…I’m not buying it.

I’ve linked some hats I have in my collection as well as some other affordable options.

Hope you enjoy!

HOW TO WEAR CHUNKY SNEAKERS

The chunky sneaker apocalypse is among us.

While dominating the fashion industry, Balenciaga, Louis Vuitton and the more affordable — Fila — sneakers have been commonly seen in “street style”.

You’ve probably seen multiple influencers + celebs rocking these bad boys on IG. Well it’s for good reason. The statement shoe can be dressed up or down and I find it adds a little sophistication to a tailored ensemble.

Let’s just say, they grow on you. They can look great depending how you decide to style them. Those who approve of the chunky shoe may find it a little difficult; however, it’s pretty simple thanks to the versatility of the trend.

You can’t go wrong with a good white sneaker + some denim. Here are a few looks I created along with some Pinterest inspo

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK 2019

Hello Fashion Lovers!

NYFW, or New York Fashion Week is a semi-annual series of events showcasing international designer collections through runway shows and pop up shops. It was my greatest honor to have attended such a prestigious, exclusive event.

It was my second time at NYFW and luckily…I came a little more prepared this time. I’ll share the good, the bad and the ugly!

If you’re wondering how I was able to score an invite…just know it’s one of the perks that comes with writing about these kinds of things. But that doesn’t mean that only bloggers attend. Tickets to a few events are available on eventbrite.

First things first, outfit planning can be stressful. Especially if you aren’t used to the cold weather. I planned my outfit weeks in advance and was able to pull off a look that was warm yet still trendy.

IMG_5809 (1).JPG
IMG_5824.JPG

I attended two Oxford Fashion Studio runway shows that featured never-before-seen collections from multiple designers.

Tip: If you’re planning on attending NYFW in the future……Get there an hour before showtime.

I arrived 30 minutes before the first show and waited a very long and cold line. I ended up with a pretty crappy seat as it is usually first come first serve. At least for this showcase. If you don’t get there on time you’re told to stand in the back with the other latecomers. eye roll.

Since the second show was at the same venue only an hour later, I stuck around and made my way to the front row.

Note: the venues get packed so if you do plan on attending next season.. prepare to be squished and maybe even a little sweaty considering the shows are indoors.

The fashion looks ranged from retro to classic and the overall experience is very fast-paced. Going show-to-show can be stressful because so many of them overlap and it is impossible to go to every show.

The Minzkou collection stood out to me the most because I live for anything bohemian styled. Her designs are sustainable with cruelty-free fabric and include intricate weaving, beading, knitting, and embroidery, most of which are done entirely by hand. insane.

The Quaint collection is everything elegant and chic. I was obsessing over the silk fabric and heavy coats the designer created.

And finally, here’s a quick run through of all designs from the first show

The NYFW experience is one like no other. Not to mention it is an amazing networking opportunity where you get to meet other bloggers and fashion lovers.

I’m already counting down the days until Miami Swim Week and can’t wait for the next runway show!

KEEP FIT IN STYLE

Okay seriously patting myself on the back because I’ve been so good with staying active these days. Rare sighting, honestly!

There’s really only one reason why I’ve become so motivated (other than the fact that I spent two weeks on a cruise & my jeans suddenly don’t fit?)

…new workout clothes, duh!

There’s no better feeling than staying active while wearing some of the cutest workout gear there is. I’m obsessing over PrettyLittleThing because the online shop has the comfiest and most chic workout attire.

PLT has so many activewear options that are fun yet, totally affordable.

I’ll link all my favorite items below. You know what to do!

If you’re struggling to find the motivation to maintain an active lifestyle, remember that it goes beyond physical appearance. Exercising regularly decreases a person's risk of developing certain disease and maintains a healthy lifestyle.

There’s no excuse!

Stay motivated by:

  • Shopping for new activewear

  • Finding a friend to workout with

  • Challenging yourself with time-bound goals

  • Tracking your progress (I use the fitbit band + app)

  • Scheduling a regular workout time

  • Taking fitness classes (cycling and yoga are my go-to!)

WHAT TO WEAR: THANKSGIVING

Thanksgiving is my absolute favorite Holiday!

There’s seriously nothing better than overeating and not feeling guilty about it. It is a time where we spend all morning watching the Macy’s Day Parade and all night having endless pumpkin pie.

However…outfit shopping for Thanksgiving may be stressful for a few. Finding a look that is family appropriate + abuela approved, yet still trendy can be quite the challenge.

I’ve chosen a few pieces from my favorite online stores that should make your outfit planning completely effortless.

WHAT I’M WEARING

DENIM: MY TOP PICKS

Unpopular opinion: Jeans are comfortable!

“Mom Jeans” are my favorite kind of jeans because they actually have a comfortable fit. They aren’t obnoxiously tight and fit just like boyfriend jeans (only they are high rise).

If you know me, you know that denim is my favorite thing to wear because it’s so easy to dress up.

Disclaimer: If you’ve never worn mom jeans you may feel weird at first because they’re definitely “baggier” since they are a “straight leg" fit

I’m so picky with jeans and have found these to fit the best.

Here are my top picks:

*Click each photo for a direct link*

AMERICAN EAGLE: MOM JEAN, COOL CLASSIC $50

These are what led me to the “Mom Jean” obsession. They are so laid back and actually look good on everyone. Not to mention they are true to size! I seriously believe this is the pair that started the whole trend.

PacSun: Favorite Blue Mom Jeans $60

Another “true to size” pair! These make your behind look ten times better, I swear! But keep in mind that they are a little on the shorter side.

LEVI’S: 501 JEANS (COLOR: DAY DREAMS) $98

I saw these everywhere on Instagram and knew I had to have them. l wear these because they have no rips and are completely work appropriate; however, the brand offers various 501’s with rips.

Now the sizing is SUPER weird and I highly suggest sizing up. The lady at Free People told me to size down because they “stretch” but that was totally untrue and I’m happy I didn’t take her advice. These haven’t changed since I’ve gotten them and that’s what makes me like them so much. (even though I had to size up to a 26!)

Overall the brand has really weird sizing so you’ll have to test your luck if you’re going to order them online. (For Miami peeps, you can try them on at Free People or check out the Levi’s outlet store in Dolphin Mall).

Note: These are vintage! so they’re a harder material because they aren’t made from cotton— but that’s what makes them so unique

AMERICAN EAGLE: MOM JEAN, LIGHT VINTAGE ON SALE FOR $27 RIGHT NOW

I just got these a few weeks ago and I’m loving the comfort. They are super high waisted and look so 90s!

If you’re looking for good Levi’s knockoffs without the vintage material, these are it!

AMERICAN EAGLE: MOM JEAN $60

Cute with heels! I’m too short to wear them with flat shoes because they’re hard to cuff (rips at the bottom) but these are by far my favorite dark wash jeans!

IS "SHEIN" LEGIT?

If you watch my Instagram stories you may be familiar with my weekly #OOTD posts where I tag everything I’m wearing.

A lot of the pieces come from the online shop — SHEIN

The site is extremely affordable. The almost hard to believe kind of affordable. I get so many DM’s asking if the store is “legit” in which my response is always……yes!

The website has SO many options it can get a little overwhelming, I’ll give you that. But the more the merrier, right?

The clothes comes in about a week and a half after ordering and most items are as pictured. If you want to be 100% sure about the look and quality, go for the items that have customer reviews and pictures.

I’ll be completely honest when I say about 35% of my closet is from SHEIN. That’s because it’s just not worth me shopping for expensive tops elsewhere when in two months, I probably won’t like them anymore. I’m that kind of girl (unfortunately).

So…the quality. It’s not bad but it’s not the best. For the price you’re paying it’s definitely worth it! I have no problem with the quality whatsoever.

What I’ve purchased: tops, bodysuits, sweaters/jackets, dresses, swimsuits and shoes. I stay away from bottoms because I ordered a skirt once and had a bad experience, so I highly suggest avoiding bottoms or denim.

SHEIN is my favorite online shop because…finally! a store with reasonable pricing.

There are other shops (Zaful and Romwe) that are pretty much the same thing as SHEIN. They have the same pieces and most likely come from the same retailers. I’ve used Zaful twice and have never tried Romwe.

I’ll link some of the items I’ve purchased & feel free to click each photo for a direct link.

MIAMI SWIM WEEK UPDATES + MY FAVORITE SWIM

Happy Miami Swim Week!

After going from show to show this past weekend, it inspired me to dedicate an entire post on some of my favorite pieces in general. Let's just say I've definitely stocked up this month!

I am a huge swimwear fan and never need an excuse to do a little shopping.

*Click each photo for a direct link*

As for Swim Week itself, the events were amazing! It truly gets better every year.

I am completely drained from the entire weekend but it was totally worth it! My only regret is not bringing my camera (my iphone pictures totally suck).

Thursday I went to the Monica Hansen show at the Paraiso tent and later headed to the Faena Forum for the Lybethras show. This was the perfect start to kick off the entire week!

Saturday at the National Hotel was the Swim the Globe show which personally was my least favorite. I'm not a huge fan of outdoor shows because of the #heat but still managed to have a good time. No regrets! The show had a variety of designs with a ton of funky patterns.

Sunday I made a quick appearance at the Seven Swim pop-up event at the 1 hotel! They had the cutest and most simple designs and the event was really laid back. I wore my favorite skirt from Free People and tied a silk scarf into a top!

The Fashion Palette show was later at night and featured five Australian designers at the Setai Hotel. This was hands down my favorite show of all time! The best designs were by VDM the Label which featured a total 90s vibe!

FROM OFFICE TO HAPPY HOUR

I'm officially a full-time working woman!

I recently graduated and have slowly started to accept the reality that my weekly attire no longer consists of leggings + addidas

Full-time pay is great, except for the fact that it pretty much takes up my entire day and leaves me little room for a social life (dramatic)

Most (all) of us are guilty of squeezing in happy hour plans after work every now and then...bringing me to the reason for this post!

I've lined up some appropriate pieces that you can rock all day at work and still wear out of office to avoid outfit changes throughout the day

'WINTER' IN MIAMI

Winter in Miami means you'll be "freezing" in the morning and sweating by noon! Does anyone else find outfit planning a little bit more difficult this time of year?

Here are two Miami friendly looks that you can rock day or night.

I seriously can’t get over these two jackets from Riamoda! They’re a major fashion staple in my closet!
