Hello Fashion Lovers!

NYFW, or New York Fashion Week is a semi-annual series of events showcasing international designer collections through runway shows and pop up shops. It was my greatest honor to have attended such a prestigious, exclusive event.

It was my second time at NYFW and luckily…I came a little more prepared this time. I’ll share the good, the bad and the ugly!

If you’re wondering how I was able to score an invite…just know it’s one of the perks that comes with writing about these kinds of things. But that doesn’t mean that only bloggers attend. Tickets to a few events are available on eventbrite.

First things first, outfit planning can be stressful. Especially if you aren’t used to the cold weather. I planned my outfit weeks in advance and was able to pull off a look that was warm yet still trendy.

I attended two Oxford Fashion Studio runway shows that featured never-before-seen collections from multiple designers.

Tip: If you’re planning on attending NYFW in the future……Get there an hour before showtime.

I arrived 30 minutes before the first show and waited a very long and cold line. I ended up with a pretty crappy seat as it is usually first come first serve. At least for this showcase. If you don’t get there on time you’re told to stand in the back with the other latecomers. eye roll.

Since the second show was at the same venue only an hour later, I stuck around and made my way to the front row.

Note: the venues get packed so if you do plan on attending next season.. prepare to be squished and maybe even a little sweaty considering the shows are indoors.

The fashion looks ranged from retro to classic and the overall experience is very fast-paced. Going show-to-show can be stressful because so many of them overlap and it is impossible to go to every show.

The Minzkou collection stood out to me the most because I live for anything bohemian styled. Her designs are sustainable with cruelty-free fabric and include intricate weaving, beading, knitting, and embroidery, most of which are done entirely by hand. insane.

The Quaint collection is everything elegant and chic. I was obsessing over the silk fabric and heavy coats the designer created.

And finally, here’s a quick run through of all designs from the first show

The NYFW experience is one like no other. Not to mention it is an amazing networking opportunity where you get to meet other bloggers and fashion lovers.

I’m already counting down the days until Miami Swim Week and can’t wait for the next runway show!
