I swear I’m not a diva, but sleeping on a silk pillowcase is a total MUST.
The #1 reason why I switched from cotton to silk material was my hair. I’ve had a major rat’s nest on the back of my head for quite some time and it’s not very flattering. Honestly, I rarely brush my hair so it’s partly my fault.
Anyway, I toss & turn like a crazy person at night (apologies to my future husband in advance) and the cotton material kept pulling and tugging on my hair. The amount of knots I started getting was ridiculous. Hence the term rat’s nest. I know I’m dramatic but you have no idea how many rough mornings I’ve had and i’ve definitely lost more hair than I’ve needed to thanks to cotton.
Sleeping on silk feels like sleeping on a cloud because it won’t pull, stretch or tug on anything for that matter. So the knots and hair pulling don’t happen.
A beauty expert (AKA my bomb-ass lash lady) advised to avoid sleeping on my face because cotton’s rough, course fibers can catch and pull on the lash extensions. In other words, the cotton material can cause damage + breakage and will seriously f*ck up your lashes. And I can totally attest to this. Seriously speaking, staying in a fixed position during sleep is impossible for me. I mean, I could totally try it but would 100% wake up b*tchier. When it comes to sleep, comfort is everything to me. So my silk pillowcase is so much more gentle on my extensions and i’m safe to toss & turn all night.
Speaking of tossing and turning, one of the reasons why I move around during sleep so much is because I get warm really easily. Like, it’s a problem and I can’t sleep without my fan on. BUT…….silk material actually keeps your temperature cool. So that’s pretty awesome, right?
And last but not least, you guys already know I have skincare obsession and can’t go a day without talking about it so……Silk material can prevent wrinkles!
Well, maybe not prevent, but the moisture retention benefits of silk pillowcases are huge and that’s enough for me!
