Hello my travel bugs!
I’m finally back from globe-trotting and wanted to share some of my favorite moments I spent in Greece with you guys!
The second we landed in Athens, we had a small mishap with our luggage. They got held back in Scotland which left us completely luggageless for about 12 hours.
Of course, this little delay did not take away from the beauty that is Greece.
Athens is quite a large city with a lot going on. Although I was eager to immediately visit the islands of Greece, Athens did have some beautiful sites.
Once place we visited was the Temple of Olympian Zeus.
Entrance to the temple was 6 euros. Major tip, if you bring your student ID you get discounts on museums and other places!
My favorite place in Athens was Monastiraki, which is the central area that’s filled with little restaurants and a ton of shops! The stores are mainly gift shops that include a ton of jewelry, soaps (olive oil soaps are a huge deal there!) and leather purses.
Because I seem to be a target for bad luck, a huge strike going on led to every ferry ride being cancelled. In other words, we were stuck in Athens for an extra day and weren’t able to leave to Santorini until after.
Of course it did not take away from our fun because we spent our last day in Athens exploring a little of the Greek Menu
Side Note: The majority of people in Greece do speak English!
Also, if you plan on traveling to Europe, be sure to pack a good amount of adapters to use for electronics. Having only three adapters for four people was not so fun.
[Next post on Santorini coming real soon!]
